Before the active period of 1968, a lavish canopy of vegetation covered the Arenal Volcano.
Enjoy the most extraordinary view of the Arenal Volcano on a hike along the base and flanks of this giant on the Arenal 1968 park. For this tour we have choose one of the park’s most extraordinary trails to the 1968 lava flows: the remaining memory of the 20th century first eruption and some other areas now in the process of regeneration. We are going to be on this trail for about 2 ½ hours.
The “Colada 68” trail will give you the best of the best hiking over lava flows in all the Arenal Volcano area, walk on rocky areas, feel the power and serenity of nature, enjoy amazing views of the Arenal Lake and the Monteverde mountains, plus an insight contact with the local flora and fauna and a great chance for some birdwatching and animal encounters.

Today you will enjoy a thrilling adventure. Sky Trek starts with a tour in the Sky Tram to reach the top of the Arenal reserve, then begins a tour of adventure full of adrenaline above the treetops, which consists on a system of zip lines, that allows you to observe the rainforest and its landscape from a different perspective, safely in an innovative and different system. Sky trek must be booked including the Sky Tram. The tour includes 8 cross-sectional cables that together have a total length of 1.7 miles with distances from 100 to 2460 feet, and with a maximum height of 660 feet, which exceed the treetops providing a panoramic view of the Arenal volcano and lake. Sky Tram is a 20-minute aerial tram tour that starts in the Reception and reaches a wide observation deck at the highest point of the Arenal Reserve, from where you can observed the rain forest, the Arenal volcano and lake. It consists of six gondolas for up to 6 people each and the trip length is 1250 mts. The journey in Sky Tram takes around 20 minutes one way with the possibility of intermediate with short stops that will be supplemented with information of a naturalist guide. Once you have reached the observation deck, you can enjoy a walk through one of the trails with duration of 30 minutes. Rest of the day at leisure
Manuel Antonio is just south of Quepos on the Pacific Coast, where we will be heading today. Manuel Antonio contains a charming combination of rain forest, beaches and coral reefs. These beaches are the most beautiful in the country, lined with lush forest, and the snorkeling is excellent too. The forest is home for sloths, iguanas, the rare and adorable squirrel monkeys and millions of colorful little crabs. And the trail that winds around Punta Catedral affords some spectacular views. The park is easy to reach, but is closed on Mondays!

Visiting the park, one is treated to an abundant diversity of wildlife. Cathedral Point, with its forest topped cliffs was once an island, but is now connected to the coast by a thin strip of island. This land bridge now forms the spine separating the parks two most popular beaches, Playa Espadilla Sur and Playa Manuel Antonio. The southern facing beach, Playa Manuel Antonio, is a picturesque half mile long, white sand crescent bisecting deep green foliage to one side and a private, secluded cove to the other.
Early morning pick up at your hotel and transfer to the local Quepos airport for a domestic flight south to Palmar Sur. Upon arrival to Palmar Sur you will be transferred by local taxi for 20 minutes drive to Sierpe where a boat trip will take you to the Drake Bay area (approx. 2 hours). Wet landing at Casa Corcovado!! Overnight at Casa Corcovado (FAP/FB) Ecologically varied, the Corcovado National Park is among the most biologically intense places on earth. Located on the wild and untamed Osa Peninsula, this national park is breathtakingly beautiful. Home to the largest and only tropical primary lowland rainforest in the world, the Corcovado National Park is also the habitat of a plethora of endangered plant and animal species.
Day trip to Corcovado National Park. This National Park has a great range of biological diversity and has attracted the attention of tropical ecologists who wish to study the intricate workings of the rain forest. It is home to more than 400 species of birds and more than a hundred species of amphibians and mammals, including monkeys, scarlet macaws, coatimundis and other wildlife. According to National Geographic, this region of Costa Rica is the most biologically intense place on earth.
Overnight at Casa Corcovado
Day trip by boat to Cano Island Reserve. Time to relax and swim, or hike through the island. This 300 ha island is known for its Indian cemetery and also known for its coral reefs and a variety of marine life. Even ponderous Humpback Whales can often be seen breaking the surface of the water in their season of migration (December and January).
Overnight at Casa Corcovado
After breakfast, transfer by boat and taxi to Palmar Sur and flight back to San Jose. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for your last night.
